Alannah Hill @ MSFW 2015 @ Tuesday, September 29, 2015

During Melbourne Spring Fashion this year we were lucky enough to get front row seats to a show! Which included bubbles and a showbag, also you get to skip the general admission (standing room only) line that started 30mins ago.

Alannah Hill is a brand I do actually buy from, being little most of my clothing is actually custom made to my measurements, and all my AH dresses have to be taken up at the shoulder. But AH has beautiful and expensive dresses, and we're here to share the new collection with you, just in time for Spring Racing Season.

Showbags! I love the novelty of it. Inside was a gold bangle and something random. I got some lovely hair pins I'll never use, Emma got rhinestone & lace detailed socks and the guy behind us got stockings. XD Perfect for his Frankenfurter cosplay.

Floral prints are in every spring. Groundbreaking, don't you think?

I really don't like these patterns. They're a bit blah to me.

Getting better, while reminding me of those lace doilies grandma uses under her teapot.

Very nice! A white dress made of beads.

This is my style, soft and flowing. White however is not my colour.

One of my top two favourites! This sequin/beaded number is designed for a boy-ish figure popular in the 1920s and today's stick insect. Though it doesn't suit me, I'd love to get it for work events. Work loves the 1920s.

Polka dots, meh. Could get that from Target. That lace overlay however would look great over a solid colour dress, like a red satin dress!

No and no.

Fallen Florals & 50s Dots - I like! It's a classic pattern.

Back to prints and lace. Is it just me or is she wearing the wrong underwear?

A variation of the white beaded dress, this one's quite nice and heavy too!

I love this colour, it's very Forever New though.

Meh. I don't like these ones.

Red Lace!

One print, two dresses.

Because black is always in.

While I like this style I'm really not sure about nude and black together.

This dress! I love it! I'll take it! Black with sequins over a slip.

The Runway

There was free chocolate during earlier days (Tip: Always go on the first day to an event that goes for a few days) and coffee. I'm not sure what happened to the chocolate as I never ate it. Not fond of nibs.

Did you go to any shows during MSFW?

MSFW - It's Summer in Here! @ Monday, September 28, 2015

Tuesday 1st September

It's Wednesday Night but feels like a Thursday Night, and I can barely recall what we did earlier this week. I don't get sick often, but when I do I totally crash. This time it's with a fever and coughing.

Smoking doesn't help. But it seems almost like every 3rd person in the city smokes. Tuesday started before noon on the train where I had the nerve to tell people (a hillbilly couple) to stop smoking (we were on the train) as I collapsed into a coughing fit (I do have a fever, a cough and can barely breathe). And they told me to f**k off and go back where to I came from. One of my friends said white people don't experience racism (the receiving side) but for me that's definitely not true.

What would you do when you see someone getting attacked on the train? Knowing that if you said something you'd be next? There should be a helpline via text or a discrete way of calling for help.

I got off the train and waited 30mins for the next one, in doing so missed my time slot for lunch. But I'd rather than than be on a train where I don't feel safe. Fortunately those people are rare on our line.

In the city it's spring fashion week, or rather summer in the hub aka clear plastic tent at city square. Very nice and warm, but not as hot as my coffee. :P Free coffee all week! But only if you know about it. ;)

Coffee!!

One of the two runways we're seeing this year is Alannah Hill, featuring florals, pastels and sequins along with Melbourne's 'race day ready theme' aka a race that goes for 2.5mins, that's really an excuse to take a day off work and go drinking while wearing awesome headpieces. My favorite part is the end as that's when all the headpieces are on sale :P

The show was 15mins, the same duration as the ads. The music loud, club loud. You could feel it invading you. There's a couple dresses I like. To our suprize the models were white rather than orange. This year we were lucky enough to get seats which are ticketed. The general public gets to stand. We didn't get tix for the forever new show though. Hoping to get that next year. I'm still not actually sure.

I want this dress! For those who didn't make it to the show I'll be sharing it soon. :)

Sequins. Meeting. Nap. Meanwhile jas went to the 'The Dapper Guide to Vertical Melbourne' ate/swallowed oysters and had eclairs. I was too tired/sick and spent the evening on my face on the sofa, till security woke me.

This time last year I vaguely recall going to one runway show, standing room only. Being frustrated on not being about to buy tickets. And a pop-up at QV. We also went to a show, though was too late to get a showbag, I was under the impression that they'd save some for media but apparently not.

Thursday

Thursday, feels like last night to me (it's Sat afternoon as I write this). It's a very vague memory. I had class, went to the office where my body ached (randomly) and we went to the mr runway show. Highlight of the night was ice cream after the show :P Crunchy Nut Cereal! It was awesome! I love it, I'd recommend it and get it again next week.

The Show - More pictures coming soon.

Dex2Rose - Cereal Milk $8

Made from crunchy nut cereal steeped in milk, this velvety gelati is reminiscent of those lay Saturday morning spent watching cartoons and eating cereal, whether you're 5 or 50. Served with a marshmallow pop and diced strawberries.

Friday

The Seasonal Flavour Exchange, the event that lead to jas been fired as my event assistant. If anyone's interested in going to events with me shoot me an email (link on the right). We'll be covering that event by the way, well I will anyway.

Last Sunday

Today we woke up with bronchitis, my throat hurts and I keep coughing :( Reckon I caught it off a woman sitting on my left, where? I don't recall... not feeling great. People are disgusting and I can smell EVERYTHING. If you're a friend there's a high chance I can identify you by your BO or deodorant. The car is a garden, full of jasmine. It's suffocating and feeling like I just snorted it. We are not feeling great.

On the other hand Emma bought me some donuts from Bistro Morgan! I couldn't go, because I wasn't sure if I wouldn't have a breakdown. I'm a cupcake person. Le beau's a donut person. I'm not that impressed, for the ratio of dough it needs more filling. But other than that I liked them, though I prefer the hot jam donuts we get at the station near school.

The afternoon was spent shopping for art & craft supplies. We almost have everything. :) Along the way we bought some pretty brooches to support cancer. Each year mother buys another brooch as she always looses the one she bought the year before, meanwhile I've had the same one for years. Do you buy the same brooch to support a cause annually?

This Sunday

When I open my mouth unintelligent things come out. XD Yes this is because I communicate in writing, not in person. The later I'm not very good at, and I prefer the prior. This is why I work from home and via email. Also when I'm asked to make calls we practice it and have a script.

How was your week?

Friday 28th August

Class. Group presentation. Late lunch. Exploration walk.

Vogue Fashion Night Out. Ball pit. I fell. It hurt. My knees are burning!

The Ball Pit - Not with a Foam Base

Ice cream in exchange for a photo.

TopShop, poor planning. Something that was meant to take a couple minutes took 30mins and so I missed out on another activity. But we did get tickets for a runway show! It took two tries, simply because no one knew anything (totally legit) at first. I thought they were discriminating against me as the offer did say it was for men. But then what about men who dress as women and use the ladies' room or vice versa? Nope, it's just that on one knew till after it had meant to start.

Next part of the evening was a blurr. I was stalked. Mam' when you with your kids in tow follow me around to four shops in a row you're a freaking stalker! Also how dare you then have the nerve to sit opposite me and make comments about me being all alone.

There's this woman I met at an event and she's keen on getting to know me and I'm not interested. When someone asks to add you on fb and you say you're not on fb, it means they're not interested in getting to know you - that or they're on another social media. This woman was at an event we went to last week, she didn't contribute but was a rather a 'dine and dash' person who decided to bring her entire family along to the meetings for a free meal. And no it's not my mother, she doesn't have the nerve to do that.

Hourly prize draws. Nothing is inside that box by the way, see below.

Emporium Activities

Free icy poles! Of course we had the coconut. :P

We ate ice cream, cupcakes and tried a new brand of iced tea in a can just like soda. There was pop-corn, event cookies and a pink candy buffet. Thoes cupcakes were perfect sized! Gotta find out who made them.

Stopped by DJ, as we were delayed at TopShop all the activities were over by the time we got there, included free Magnum ice cream which was on the list.

I hate it when one small event triggers everything else to mess up. Because of their mistake I missed out on going to DJ and Bardot.

Room in a Shipping Container

Photo Wall at DJs

There was a shop doing fairy floss as gift with purchase O.o yeah no I'm not buying a pair of shoes for free food. I might if it came with a shoe kit or something of value rather than spun sugar. But then another branch just gave out free cotton candy, but we didn't know so missed out. Someone was also doing flower crowns, but we didn't know about that either.

Nail pop-bars were everywhere! And girls waited hours for it... I did that once 3hrs later (I got there when they opened and girls had started 30mins before) and I still wasn't at the front. By that time we had an event to get to. That's enough waiting for a lifetime.

Drink sponsor of the night and event. New brand?

Things we didn't see, that some else did.

Giant yoga sized balloons, I have one at home :P

All the freebies from my short time at the event. I actually spent most of the night following the event on instagram, at the office. Lying down. We don't have ice packs though.

Did you go out on Vogue's Night Out? This is the first year its held in Melbourne.
